Grade 7 Math Overview
Grade 7 Math builds on the foundations developed in earlier grades and introduces students to more abstract thinking, complex problem solving, and real-world applications. This year, learners will work confidently with whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages. They'll explore algebraic expressions, linear equations, and geometric concepts such as angles, surface area, and volume.
By the end of Grade 7, students will be able to:
-
Perform multi-step calculations using all four operations
-
Understand and apply order of operations (BEDMAS)
-
Work fluently with positive and negative integers
-
Solve problems involving fractions, decimals, and percent
-
Explore proportional reasoning through ratios and rates
-
Begin solving one-step and two-step algebraic equations
-
Understand properties of triangles and polygons
-
Calculate area, surface area, and volume of 2D and 3D shapes
-
Interpret data, calculate measures of central tendency, and understand probability
This curriculum is designed for independent, screen-free practice. Each topic includes printable worksheets, real-world word problems, and built-in review weeks to reinforce student confidence and mastery.
